Hillwood Polska has redrawn the layout of its planned 130MW data center campus at Reguły, southwest of Warsaw. Buildings will be smaller and sit further from homes after residents objected to the project, Data Center Dynamics reported on 19 October.
"The changes significantly increase the investment's distance from residential development," Ilona Śmigasiewicz, Hillwood Polska's data center development director, said in a statement cited by DCD. She said a landscaped green buffer would provide additional separation and that residents' opinions had been an important element of the project's development.
The campus occupies a 54-acre plot in Michałowice commune between the Warsaw commuter rail line and an arterial road into the city. Announced in December 2025, the plan calls for four separate buildings constructed in phases, supporting cloud computing, IT systems, internet services and other corporate digital solutions. The redesign comes about ten months after the announcement, before any of the buildings have gone up.
TVP3 Warsaw reported residents' concerns over water and electricity consumption and local noise, according to DCD. Some residents described the planning process as opaque. In August 2026, residents of the Warsaw suburb of Józefosław criticised a proposed data center in the nearby Piaseczno district, saying it would worsen water pressure problems there.
Hillwood Polska is the Polish arm of the US developer Hillwood and owns and manages 22.6 million sq ft (2.1 million sqm) of warehouse space in Poland.
