Fisk Electric, a subsidiary of Los Angeles-based Tutor Perini, has won electrical construction work at a Houston data center, Construction Dive reported.

The win reflects a priority shift toward the data center sector that Tutor Perini has emphasized on earnings calls this year. The contractor has historically focused on large civil infrastructure projects, including the Gateway tunnel project in New York and New Jersey and California's high-speed rail project between Los Angeles and San Francisco. On recent earnings calls it has said it was exploring opportunities in data center construction, as the sector has grown to represent a bigger share of large contractors' backlogs, according to the report.

Fisk's electrical construction work at the Houston data center is expected to begin this year, with substantial completion anticipated in the first quarter of 2027, according to the report.

Tutor Perini is not alone in that shift. Granite Construction, a Watsonville, California-based contractor also focused on civil infrastructure, has noted growing exposure to data center projects, including site preparation, access roads and parking lots.

The coverage does not identify the Houston project's owner or tenant.
