Data Center Dynamics reported the filing, which lists 422MW of capacity to be supplied by Georgia Power.
Microsoft estimates the project will be valued at $360 million once built out and generate $35 million a year in local tax revenue. The buildings total up to 1,659,000 square feet. Microsoft expects completion by 2032 and 150 employees once operational. Microsoft bought the land in 2023, calling it "Project Firecracker" at the time.
Georgia Power, which this publication reported in August had a 3.2GW grid slot underwritten by OpenAI, is listed as the power supplier for ATL80. Under that arrangement, the customer pays full freight for the utility's build.
ATL80 follows ATL50, a two-building, 910,000 sq ft campus on 88 acres in Union City that Microsoft filed for in September, also set to launch in 2032. This publication described that filing at the time as a scheduling document. Microsoft already lists Rome, along with Fairburn, Douglasville, Palmetto, East Point and Tyrone, among its Georgia projects. Its Atlanta Fairwater site was slated to launch in November 2025.
