Data Center Dynamics reports that L&T's Vyoma.AI unit will host an Nvidia B300 'AI Factory' for Together AI at its Chennai data center campus. The companies call the deployment India's largest single-cluster AI infrastructure. The deal is reportedly worth $1bn to $1.75bn. The first phase of development will offer 250MW.

That 250MW figure deserves a second look. Vyoma's own 2025 annual review targets more than 200MW of capacity across India and lists just two live facilities: a 2MW site in Navi Mumbai and a 30MW site in Chennai, with two more under development. A single 250MW first phase in Chennai would exceed the company's stated target before the other sites come online. L&T rebranded Cloudfiniti to Vyoma last year and added a cloud platform to the offering in February.

Together AI, founded in 2022, describes itself as an AI acceleration cloud. It leases GPUs from cloud providers and re-leases them to developers, and has begun buying its own servers. Its documentation places its existing data centers in North America. Previous capacity deals with IBM Cloud, Rumble, Hypertec and 5C were all built on third-party infrastructure. The Chennai arrangement is a direct commitment to a named campus.

A 250MW first phase

L&T's chairman, S N Subrahmanyan, tied the deal to what he called the company's 'Gigawatt AI Infrastructure Mission' and to making India a global hub for next-generation AI infrastructure. L&T's construction arm is the kind of engineering resource data center builders need when they promise powered shells at speed. Vyoma's live capacity today is 32MW, so the Chennai leap is the clearest statement yet of where L&T wants to take the business.

The reported price tag gives Indian AI infrastructure a public number to underwrite. The coverage does not say how L&T will pay for the build, whether from its own balance sheet, with a financial partner, or through debt backed by Together AI's offtake. The choice will tell the market how Indian capital prices AI risk, and whether it matches the enthusiasm visible in US data center deals.

The coverage does not include a timeline. The arithmetic is still worth weighing: 250MW in the first phase against a 200MW stated target. The target appears to have been overtaken before the first phase is complete.
