DataVault plans to build a 3MW data center on Auckland's North Shore, with fit-out starting in 2027 and the first stage due live in the second half of that year. The New Zealand colocation provider announced the project on LinkedIn this week, and Data Center Dynamics reported the plans on 20 October.

DataVault said the site has 11 confirmed launch partners: EonFibre, Devoli, EdgeIX, Verge Infrastructure, WaveSquared, Vetta Group, Mercury Energy, PureLink, Vector Fibre, Vital NZ and Megaport. Data Center Dynamics reported that full details of the planned facility were not shared beyond the 3MW figure and the partner list.

The North Shore build is part of roughly 6MW of additional capacity DataVault plans across Auckland, Hamilton and Wellington over the coming years. If that total holds, the new site would account for about half of it. At its existing Grafton Road site in Auckland, Data Hall 4 comes online in the first quarter of 2027 backed by what DataVault called a "significant international anchor tenant," with Data Hall 5 following in the third quarter.

DataVault, founded in 2004, runs colocation from Auckland, Hamilton and Wellington, and bought a Wellington data center from telecoms firm Vital last year. Data Center Dynamics notes Auckland hosts more than 30 facilities run by local or Australian-based operators.
