Bloom's Power Connect pre-fabricates the data center power plant

The factory-built platform moves wiring and testing off the job site, with Oracle, Equinix, and American Electric Power already lined up as customers.

Bloom Energy has launched Power Connect, a deployment platform the company says will cut on-site power installation time by more than 40 percent, Data Center Dynamics reports. The system moves most installation work into the factory, then arrives pre-connected, pre-wired, tested, and ready for placement. Data centers are the target: they have become Bloom's biggest offtaker of its solid oxide fuel cell systems, which produce electricity through an electrochemical reaction rather than combustion. The units will be manufactured and assembled in the United States.

The company has already signed several data center contracts. Earlier this year it expanded an Oracle agreement to supply as much as 2.8 gigawatts; the two companies had signed an initial 1.2 gigawatt deal last year, with deployments underway. Equinix has contracted capacity exceeding 100 megawatts across 19 data centers. American Electric Power has agreed to buy up to 1 gigawatt of fuel cells to power AI data centers off-grid.

Joe Tavi, head of Bloom's customer installation group, frames the platform as a schedule play. "Power Connect is the latest innovation supporting our speed-to-power advantage," he told Data Center Dynamics, describing the goal as moving "complexity out of the field and into a controlled manufacturing process."

The 40 percent figure is Bloom's claim, not an independent measurement, and it will be tested as the first deployments go live. If the savings hold, data center power stops being a construction scheduling problem and becomes a manufacturing capacity problem. That is the bet the company is making with its factory-built platform.
