Xantaro names Christian Werner CEO as Czermin moves to executive chairman

The German network integrator's disclosed UK footprint is more than 40 altnets, the sole pipeline figure in an announcement that carries no revenue or headcount.

Xantaro Group has named Christian Werner chief executive, with Martin Czermin, the man he replaces, moving to executive chairman at the German company that sells technology, software and services to carriers, ISPs, hosting and cloud providers and data center operators; Data Center Dynamics first reported the appointment. The statement carries no revenue, headcount, ownership or valuation figures, leaving a count of the UK altnets the integrator says it is working with as the only pipeline figure.

Both men describe the change as planned, and Czermin says it had been prepared for: he calls it the start of the next phase in the company's development, while Werner says his priority is to build on that work, keep customers able to rely on the group, and expand its growth platforms. Nothing in the announcement describes a change of direction, and nothing in it sizes the business.

Werner's background maps onto the company he now runs: managing director at digit solutions GmbH before this, eight years as chief executive of Logicalis Group DACH including oversight of Orange Networks GmbH, and earlier leadership roles at Oracle, Sun Microsystems and Siemens. That is a career on the vendor and channel side of enterprise IT, selling and integrating equipment into networks. Xantaro itself is that kind of integrator, paid by operators to integrate what others own, and its buyer mix runs from carriers and ISPs on one side to hosting, cloud and data center operators on the other, so the order book leans on both access-network and compute-site capital spending.

The disclosed UK work is where the infrastructure read sits, because Xantaro supplied cabinet and exchange solutions for the Cornwall-based ISP Wildanet's gigabit-enabled full fiber rollout and says it is currently working with more than 40 UK altnets. Those builders sit on the far side of the split this publication has described, in which hyperscaler-anchored digital infrastructure prices like a utility while everything without that anchor waits on a lease or a lender. A supplier's orders track installation schedules set by networks financed elsewhere.

Czermin's move to executive chairman keeps the outgoing chief inside the company, which suggests the relationships he built are being treated as worth retaining; the announcement does not say what the executive chairmanship will cover, or how long Czermin held the top job before the handover.

For a reader underwriting digital infrastructure, the appointment is a supply-chain note rather than a demand signal: an integrator changing chiefs while its order book depends on projects financed by other people's balance sheets. The number to watch is the one the statement volunteers—more than 40 UK altnets—because it will move only as fast as the financing decisions made elsewhere allow.
