TotalEnergies exits Lillebaelt Syd, partners search for new backer

The departure changes the project's ownership and sends partners looking for new capital.

TotalEnergies has walked away from the Lillebaelt Syd offshore wind project, and its partners are now looking for a replacement. Renewables Now first reported the exit and the search that followed.

The departure reshuffles the project's ownership just as offshore wind capital turns pickier. Whoever steps in will be buying into a development that has already cleared one major hurdle: a supermajor's involvement. The project still has to prove it can hold its investor base together.

The exit probably says more about TotalEnergies' shifting priorities than about the project itself. For infrastructure funds and utilities looking for late-stage offshore wind exposure, this is a rare open seat at a table that is usually full.
